A multi roughly similar brand Tascam, and its big brother, the zoom R What thing do you like most? It sets the tempo, the metronome can be set only while it record and therefore no tic tic in the final mix is launched, we play a guitar track, bam one instrument changes, we add a battery above, and so on How do you like the least?

Not much to say, go simulations bass guitar are not convincing anyway I n''ai never seen one indeed able to make it sound like a bass guitar Editing drum track using the pads is not very easy even though I have not used much since playing on my Roland TD4 instead. With experience, you do again this choice? With experience and especially money I think I will turn to the R16 in order to record 8 instruments at the same time practical enough to repeat them with friends.

View price information. But I want to record and retrieve the feeling of a whole, not just a guitar. Korg Sound On Sound that I had bought previously was a real headache. The there is all the buttons you need to avoid the improbable and impossible to memorize combinations. I can work with in the chair for seated work rhythms and sequences, and go settle down with microphones, cables and guitars etc in a wink.

Clearly not a pro tool production, but for models it is perfect. I hesitated, but now I really do not regret my purchase.

I use the Zoom R8 past few months relatively simple laptop is its biggest assets and currently serves me interface to control cubase and also occasionally sound card, the latency is around 15 ms but strangely it is less reamping perceptible than in my external sound card which however is only 2 ms The preamp is very powerful and this gene in the long run, how to say the sound is a bit "muffled" but it gives a particular color especially on guitars, very nice, there are many effects I used it a few can swing either during or after its decision, the drum machine is a drum machine can create his patterns but it is a power head or he must purchase the software sold separately for AC and more ….

Menestrel de malheur. When I saw the size I hallucinated seen proposed is simply amazing functions. As against this will necessarily sacrificing flexibility pads, zippers, buttons and pots but it is not that we look with this kind of machine.

I had 1 October digital tracks in the same brand as m lasted nearly 12 years but even when cost euros new and did not have as many features, for about 4 times the size of that one. Modern, simple, effective, cheap and may be suitable for both beginners and pros looking for a portable solution or small.

A genuine Swiss Army knife. I use it for 3 months. This is a machine that is forgotten because it is so easy to use. I had other multitrack before but it loops through its function is really well thought out. I record a vocal rhythm, I put the loop and go to compose a new song. Everything is intuitive although some points need to read the manual.

I do not use effects so I can talk about it. A product t…. A product that allows you to dial anywhere, which is well thought out, thank you to the engineers at Zoom. This is my first multitrack before I recorded with a mixing desk Yamaha MG who was returning in a laptop.

One day I dropped my PC so I walked in to make a standalone solution and resell the small table yam. No history of multitrack, I wonder if it would really help me. Well now I can not let go. I got a portable recording config. All stand in a backpack a hand guitar, bass and drums! The recording quality is really good, the drum sounds are convincing and the effects do their job but as I rework everything on pc after I is not too much.

But I find them very good …. But I find them very good for the condenser microphone for the guitar a little less especially the cleans that are not too much.

There are still a few weeks, I boarded my backpack, a guitar to go to my grandparents and I came back with two complete recordings Also during our rehearsals, table mix goes into the recorder and 2-step, we have all the instruments or the first time recorded drums and bass and second rounds, or are recorded guitar and vocals A recommended.

It's simple, I wanted a tool to replace my old PC that I used to do most of the sequences: I found it! With the Zoom r8, we created rhythms archi-fast playing live with pads or making a "step by step", there has been super easy, the effects are clean and many in insert with clean, distortion, mic, and so on.

This is exactly what I wanted, and it's good stuff. So I've had little time and I must admit it is great being able to share in addition to audio files or audio tracks with samples or sequence programmable sample is quite what I looking for my future compos I must admit it is so top that I wonder if I will not invest in the r The effects are good and well, you can program its banks.. I would do this choice. I R8 for two weeks. What is so special that you like most and least? The -: The multi effects did not yet convinced.

I had a Zommer MRS8 which has served me well for 5 years. It was my reference in the field and when I saw the R8 came out I sold the "old" to offer me the latest version.

I love the fact that you have 8 dedicated inputs for keyboards, mics, guitars and other gear.

Though it only has one phantom power it does work well. I give this 5 starts for 2 reason only. The downside is simply this. You have to download and install the Zoom driver for windows 10 even though it says it will install it automatically. This is NOT true if you have your firewall active on Windows The other issue is that the unit has not updated the firmware since and that is a huge issue when connecting to a dedicated DAW like a Roland Fantom or Motif.

I will still give this 5 stars for fact that Zoom has good products and they pack their multi-track recorders with features that others like Tascam simply do not offer. The price is a bit high for an older unit however ask yourself a simple question?

How many Multi-track recorders today offer more than 2 inputs for the price of the Zoom R16? It will run very well on software listed above however some older versions or "open source" software may not work or have issues. Hope you found this review helpful. Top critical review. Reviewed in the United States on April 9, The R8 packs a lot of functionality into a small affordable package, but suffers from the same malady inherent to many DAWs: poor input audio quality. Load a quality WAV file in to the R8 and play it back through phones or a good sound system, the audio sparkles.

I've solved the dilemma put adding a Behringer Multigain tube pre-amp to the front end. This small, economical device has both XLR and quarter-inch inputs, as well as a healthy voicing palette and input and output gain controls. I run all input sources through it and am very pleased with the results.

The Zoom R8 is an incredible, inspiring piece of equipment. I won't go into the tech details--you can find all the specs elsewhere.

I'll just talk about how it's fit into my workflow. WAV files is excellent. It's one of the main reasons I chose this over other options, like the Tascan DP series. If you recorded it on the R8, you can just copy it off and use it anywhere.

It just syncs perfectly. No need to re-record. No need to edit or time-stretch. Just ensure you have a seriously quiet space They're very sensitive and omni-directional , and you'll able to capture some great performances. They're also very convenient if you just want to lay down a scratch track anywhere, noise-be-darned.

I can't in good conscience call it realistic-sounding--kind of like a late's Boss DR or Alesis SRtype sound--but it's very useful for creating something to play against.

I always record my own patterns, but the R8 brings a pile of stock ones. I used all the above on one of my most recent songs. I also recorded a couple of vocals tracks to finish out the composition. When I was ready to do a full production version of the song, I was already happy with the bass and uke tracks, so I just imported those into Sonar X3. Then I re-recorded the vocals, and recorded full drums and synth in the DAW.

However, the original instrumentation--bass and uke--are the originals from the R8. I've also recorded a few finished tracks inside of it, making good use of the onboard effects and mixing capabilities. There's plenty of tweakability to the effects, and some hidden gems. For instance, you can do a tempo-synched delay, which is not obvious. Also, when you bounce down tracks, the original ones aren't destroyed.

You can just go back into the file system and recall them. The machine simply has a ton of depth. I've had it a couple of years and keep finding new things inside of it. It runs fine on 4 Eneloop AAs. It's a Netbook case that fits the R8 and its manual perfectly in the main pocket, and has a side pocket for the USB adapter and cables.

The Keys can produce everything from shimmery synth pads, flute-like sounds, hard leads, and really good bass sounds. It's very easy to play and a lot of to tweak. I've got a tiny, battery-powered studio everywhere I go. It's a simple little happy song using the uke both clean and distorted , the Volca Keys both as bass and synth lead , and the R8's drums. Maybe that I wish I'd gotten the R24 instead, as it's easy to run out of tracks quickly, and that I'd like to have the eight simultaneous inputs.

Each drum pattern requires its own track, so if you have three patterns say, a verse, chorus, and a bridge you're down to three usable recording tracks. Depending on the song, this may not be a big deal. I've recorded a few songs on the R8 using a single four bar drum pattern for the entire song. Again, not a deal breaker. However, I prefer the small size of the unit. It travels beautifully. Upside: Easy to use, record, mix and dub tracks. This fit the bill perfectly. Downside: The on-board microphones are functional for producing practice tracks but not really up to the performance of a good condenser microphone for final production.

At some point the manufacturer quit supplying the DAW software on CD bundled with the mixer instead opting for download. I have a very high end computer but the download took a couple of hours and frankly what you get is an unnecessarily over-complicated DAW that is probably useful for commercial Nashville cats working with large bands but IMHO is a waste of time for this mixer.

Most of what you need for mixing a few tracks like this can be done with a free DAW called Audacity and the download is quick. I'm just sayin' If you are considering the Zoom R I have had a Zoom HD16 for years, an incredible machine that continues to function perfectly after thousands of projects. But I decided to upgrade to the R24 and it's even better, faster, and has more of everything. Plus several new features Recording an acoustic guitar is, in my view, the ultimate test, and the R24 killed it I am extremely pleased with the R24 and I highly recommend getting one.

I bought this product for dollars, and have recently seen the price drop to only about dollars. I thought at it was a steal If you're even just considering this recorder, go ahead and buy it. It's incredible.

I waffled back and forth for a month before I pulled the trigger, and I'm mad at myself for not buying it sooner. Ten minutes out of the box I was recording. Showing 0 comments. There was a problem loading comments right now. Works great. Great value considering what you get.

I got this because of the drum machine. I have no drummer or drums. The programming of the drums takes a bit of study and practice but, there are plenty of YouTube videos. The mic that came with it works well enough. It's small enough to take other places but, big enough you don't have to have a magnifying glass to see it. This thing is cool. Sounds great. Can kind of do it all. The package deal really made the price worth it as well - that mic is nice and totally worth the small amount extra over the base.

Now I just need to create that next hit single. One person found this helpful. Great little recorder! Good price! Easy to use and sounds great! Love this recorder!

Easy to use, and professional sound quality! Working good. I like it. The size is excellent. The machine works very well for the money.

I love the R8. This package deal is great! A little bit of reading and practice, but within 15 minutes, I was laying down my first track. Get fast answers from reviewers.
